Coonara is set in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. Established in August 1976 as a place which offered alternative learning opportunities for adults and children. Since then we have continued to foster a safe, supportive and welcoming environment which inspires personal confidence and empowerment for individuals.

If you are looking for a space that inspires and celebrates achievements and occasions with a warm and welcoming feel, then Coonara is for you. Our historic building is surrounded by beautiful gardens, sounds of birds and wildlife with a wide variety of rooms to suit any occasion from corporate hire in meeting rooms to creative clubs and workshops.

Chimney Room

This room has a wonderful historical connection to Coonara. Originally part of the old school house, it has a large open thatched ceiling and original stone fire place (not operational). A cosy feel that is very private for smaller groups.

This spacious room has an abundance of light filtering through and is situated in a prominent position just off our reception/foyer area. There is access to outdoors with a tranquil view from the room.

The surrounds of the room have fixed desk space with 10 desktop computers ready to go!

Festini Room

The Festini Room is situated in the top section of our house and is full of natural light, with plenty of space for clients. The surrounds of the room have fixed desks to seat 16 while the centre of the room has plenty of space for extra individual tables and chairs. There is a small outdoor space learning from this room. Perfect for intermission breaks.

The central welcoming hub of Coonara, this space has a backdrop of original stonework and an inviting atmosphere for any guests. Either utilise our comfortable chairs and lounge or take advantage of the floor space.

Gardens

Coonara’s building and gardens date back to 1864 and hold a special place in the hearts of our community. Volunteers and staff tend to our working vegetable and herb gardens and vast surrounding gardens. Lots of hidden gems can be found such as meandering pathways, water features, arches, bird houses and lots of quirky inspirational signs.

Long Room

This room is the largest at Coonara and the wide-open windows offer a beautiful garden view. It boasts its own entrance and leads into a large open space with a kitchen at one end and bathroom facilities attached. This space lends itself to a range of hire options. Mostly carpeted with vinyl in the kitchen traffic area. With plenty of convenient parking space for guests. Consider a garden add on to enhance your event!

Our private and cosy meeting room is located in our 150 year old stone building. Separated into two open spaces with chairs and tables at one end and a kitchenette at the other. A mounted projector and screen is available, making this space a great choice for meetings and training.

A private room with all amenities you will need to operate. This carpeted room is warm and welcoming with an outlook of the Coonara gardens making it a pleasure to step into work.

A medium spacious room with a wall of windows allowing natural light to flow through. This room has three separate entry doors, two of which lead outdoors. The vinyl floors lend themselves to easy cleaning for an array of activities. This is a special space located close to the large rear carpark and surrounded by gardens.

REFUND POLICY

Courses require minimum numbers to proceed. If we cancel a class you will receive a full refund.

If you withdraw from a class more that 5 business days before the start date, you will be eligible for a refund less a $10 administration fee.

No refunds will be issued for withdrawals made within 5 business days of the class start date.
